A collection of my various thoughts and opinions that I have decided everyone cares about.

Every custom map; either made by me or someone else with or without the 1.03 galaxy forge all result in an instant defeat screen. I thought 1.04 would fix it, but it hasn't. I don't know why or how, and it's ALL custom maps (official maps work fine), and only since 1.03. This is without mods.

Help please.

I have noticed the same thing - thought I was doing something wrong as I am new to the game...

That's odd, is the versionNumber in the map properly set to 1? (better check to be sure )

Are you placing them in the right folder? Maps made with GF need to be placed in the galaxy folder where the game is located, while those made in-game need to be placed in the one under the windows user folder.

Ummm - not quite sure how to do that, (I know - I am new and feel shame) After a quick look, I didn't see a way to edit/check the downloaded maps In-Game and I haven't downloaded Galaxy Forge to this point if that is what I need...

I have four maps downloaded into the Galaxy folder, but only three of them show up in the Custom Map Section...I will try to move the fourth to the windows user folder in a bit...

Is there a FAQ/How to that you could direct me to that deals with Custom Mods/Maps? Searching these forums is - well - I don't seem to have much luck...(or is that skill?)

Anyways, thanks for the help guys, I appreciate it...

If they're showing up in the Custom Maps section, you're putting them in the wrong place.

Like Kryo said, there are two different "Galaxy" folders (I know, we should probably rename one of them - it's not ideal to have two different groups of files, but thats part of the Games For Windows spec, apparently).

One is located where all the game settings and save games are (somewhere under the documents and settings directory), and the other is where the game is actually installed (somewhere under program files).

The one you want is the program files one.

Just open up the map file in Notepad, they're all in text. There will be a line towards the top that reads either versionNumber 0 or versionNumber 1 - it needs to read 1 to show up in-game. The 1.03 patch slightly changed how the map files were treated by the game, so all the maps that were created pre-1.03 need to be hand changed to versionNumber 1. Maps created with the updated GalaxyForge that's in the downloads section should be fine.

Incorrect version number will cause them not to show up, and having them in the wrong place will cause instant loss. So it looks like, per kryo/psugar, 3 of the maps are in the wrong place, and one of them also has the wrong version number

Ok, I just moved the maps from the documents galaxy folder to the main Sins galaxy folder as said, and it worked. I did that with 1.03, but they didn't show up (that seems fixed now) and forgot about after.

Thanks for the help

It was exactly as you said - I had to modify one of the map's version Number to '1' and move them all to the correct folder under the main Sins Galaxy folder - got them all working now!

Annatar11, Kyro and psugar - many thanks!!
